The figure moving across the grounds is bathed in cool light, as the full moon peaks out of the clouds, lighting not only his path, but his destination: the large white structure glows like a beacon.
Elphias Doge hastens his step, as the steady rise of the moon reminds him that time is of the essence.
Entering the white marble structure, Elphias opens the bag he has brought with him and removes a framed photograph, placing it carefully atop the white marble sarcophagus that holds Albus Dumbledore's earthly remains.
The auburn-haired man in the photo winks at Elphias, and Elphias can't help smiling. "I'm sorry, my dear, that it's taken me this long. Your man Snape came through for you, just as you said he would; however, whilst they occupied your school, it was most regrettably impossible for me to come to you."
Elphias runs his hand over the recently mended stone; he is unable to discern where the damage had been. Harry did a fine job of repairing it, and Elphias is there to finish it. No one else would disturb Albus again.
"Your boy Harry, Albus, you would have been so proud. He's a wonderful young man."
Photo Albus smiles knowingly, which Elphias always found a bit maddening when the man was alive.
Now, it fills him with a pang.
He runs his hand along the stone once more. Elphias understands, of course, that the Albus he knew and loved isn't in that stone box, but however practical his purpose, speaking to Albus seems to draw the man's spirit nearer.
"There are no words to express how deeply I feel your loss, darling man." He touches the photo with a finger, tracing the long auburn locks, and Albus puts his hand up to the glass then leans forward and kisses Elphias's fingertip. Elphias smiles sadly. "Knowing the end was drawing nigh could not make smaller the hole that was created."
When they parted at Kings Cross for the last time, Albus was a seventeen-year-old boy, champing at the bit for all the world had to offer, eager to set out on their Grand Tour and prove himself to the wizarding world at large. Only months later, Albus had returned to Elphias a bitterly disappointed and grieving man.
Elphias saw his friend through the grief, and had been rewarded when, one day, Albus had turned to him with a new look shining in his beautiful blue eyes, bringing nearly every one of Elphias's closely held yearnings to life.
And they had been as one from that moment on.
"Ninety-seven years is a long time by anyone's standards, I dare say." Elphias sighs, wrapping the memories around him as he would a favorite blanket. "I know our discretion was at my insistence, though looking back now…."
If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride, he thinks to himself. Elphias insisted on the secrecy for Albus's sake, fearing the repercussions of their uncommon love would damage Albus's chances at achieving the greatness he so richly deserved.
"I'm quite certain young Harry understands the nature of our relationship; he's very deferential whilst speaking of you with me. In a way that only those few who knew of us are." Tapping the side of his head, he adds, "He's a smart one; although, that wretched Skeeter woman's innuendo may have helped him along in his conclusions as well."
Albus merely twinkles in response.
A chime sounds and Elphias pulls out his pocket watch, the many whirling hands and dials indicating he has nearly tarried overlong.
He shakes off the melancholy that is threatening to make his objective more difficult, and begins the ritual, making a circuit of the sarcophagus, chanting the words softly but clearly, infusing them with the love he still carries in his heart.
When he completes the last of the three full circuits, he stops in front of the framed photograph. "It's been quite some time, Albus, but I think I recall this part well enough."
As he opens his robes, photo Albus mouths, "Oooooh!" and strips off, clearly intending to participate.
Elphias smiles indulgently—he chose this particular photo for that very reason. Albus had been feeling particularly playful that day, and the wizarding photograph captured it wonderfully. "Cheeky beggar."
Photo Albus laughs, young and vital and breathtaking as his hand moves over his body.
Elphias sighs wistfully, but pushes that feeling aside. He pulls a bottle out of his pocket, pours some of the lightly scented oil into his hand, and then drops the stoppered bottle back into his pocket.
Albus watches him, smiling a bit lasciviously, and begins stroking in a leisurely manner, clearly waiting for Elphias to catch him up.
Though his flesh does not firm as swiftly as it once did, it is only moments of watching Albus teasing himself before Elphias feels his body stir, the pulse of arousal quickening his blood.
Elphias recalls quite vividly the feel of those hands on his skin, remembers that mouth stretched around him, whilst merry blue eyes looked up at him, full of heat and promise. Albus had always had a wicked tongue, and Elphias supposes he has the German to thank for that, though it's hard to be bitter when he was so often the joyful benefactor of Albus's experience.
In his mind's eye, Elphias's skin becomes taut, his muscles firm and supple, and he feels more alive than he has in an age as the heat builds within him. He grasps himself more firmly, stroking faster and harder, watching as Albus does the same.
Elphias's bollocks draw up tight at the sight of Albus's face contorting in ecstasy, chest heaving as his release splatters the glass in front of him. Elphias manages to hold out long enough to see Albus grin, stroking leisurely, milking every last drop of pleasure from his body, then lean against the frame of the photograph in satisfaction.
Gleeful, photo Albus blows a kiss at Elphias just as Elphias cries out and spends himself on the floor at the base of the sarcophagus, stroking until nothing remains. His offering is much less than it once was, but it is enough to complete the ritual.
Satisfaction fills him as a bright, blue-white light briefly surrounds the white marble box. With a wave of Albus's hand, the evidence of his pleasure disappears from the photograph's glass. Elphias uses magic to tidy himself, then his handkerchief to mop his brow, which has become dewy with his exertion.
Elphias kisses the photo, and Albus waves jauntily as Elphias stows the frame back into his bag.
"Quite like old times. Quite. And now, you cannot be disturbed again." He pats the cold marble.
He makes certain he's left nothing behind, and says one last thing before parting. "I shall not say good-bye again, my love. I suspect I shall be seeing you sooner, rather than later, and I cannot wait to hear about your adventure so far."
Please don't let the pairing scare you away---It's not squicky, I promise.
